Hampton City Divorce Records
The circuit court in Hampton has exclusive original jurisdiction over all divorce cases filed in the city. Couples file in this court to terminate their legal union, and the records generated from these cases are called the divorce court records.
Divorce court records are publicly accessible under Virginia Code Titles 16.1 and 17.1. This means petitions, summonses, orders, decrees, dockets, and other related case materials are open to the public. However, as with other court records, some records are exempt from the public’s access, such as minors’ identifying information, financial statements, and medical records.
Divorce cases can be reviewed online through the online Circuit Court Case Information system. Individuals can also visit the courthouse location below to request access at the clerk’s office.
